This Data Privacy Policy applies to all information collected via this website or otherwise in connection with the
Faculty for the Future Grant Program as offered by the
Schlumberger Foundation (“Schlumberger Foundation”) consisting of
Schlumberger Foundation Inc, 5599 San Felipe Street, Houston, Texas 7705 in the USA and
Schlumberger Stichting Fund, Parkstraat 83-89, 2514JG The Hague in the Netherlands. The data controller responsible for the operation of this grant program is the Schlumberger Foundation.
How does the application system work?
Candidates for a Faculty for the Future grant offered by the Schlumberger Foundation can apply via this website. The information you provide to the Schlumberger Foundation is stored in a central database which is located within the European Union. Selected staff members of Schlumberger Foundation and of the Schlumberger Group will be able to review your data for the purpose of the selection process. After the selection process has been finalized, the members of these review panels will no longer have access to your data.
Which data do we process?
If you wish to apply for a Schlumberger Foundation Faculty for the Future grant we will need the following personal data from you: your name, address, phone number, email address, education, employment, research and project statements,home university, home university supervisor(s)’ name(s); host university, host university supervisor(s)’ name(s); other referee’s name(s)], financial details such as bank account name and numbers, and contact and payment details of the academic institution where you intend to follow your research program.
For what purposes may we use your data?
We collect your information for the following purposes:
- To process your application for the award of a Faculty for the Future grant or the renewal thereof;
- To inform you on the progress of your application and to award a grant to you, if selected;
- To process payments of the grant awarded to you, if selected;
- To monitor your academic achievements;
- To use it for statistical purposes.
Who has access to your data?
Only individuals as authorized by the Schlumberger Foundation, and such individuals may include employees of the Schlumberger Group will have online access to your data. Please note that your data may be disclosed to third party vendors who service the system and who should have access to the data within the system where needed to provide its services. Schlumberger Foundation requires these companies to adequately safeguard your personal data and not use it for any unauthorized purposes. This applies also to the services provided by our corporate IT Department. Otherwise your personal data will not be disclosed or sold to third parties.
Transfers of data to countries without adequate level of protection
The personal data you provide for this application may be transferred to companies belonging to the
Schlumberger Group around the world. Some countries, like the US, do not provide for an adequate level of
protection of your personal data. Please note that the Schlumberger Group has a binding corporate privacy
policy in place that adequately safeguards your data. Insofar third party service providers are located in a
country having an inadequate level of data protection Schlumberger Foundation has taken adequate safeguards
to ensure that your data will remain confidential and secure. Countries to which your personal data have been
transferred can be provided on request.
Cookies and web log
The Schlumberger Foundation website uses only a so-called “session cookie”. A cookie is just a piece of text containing a unique short-lived session identifier with no meaning in itself, and the browser may decide to store it in a file or in memory but that depends on the browser used. This “session cookie” is used for the duration of the user session but is not kept after the visit and so no permanent cookies are being used when you close your Internet browser. How long will Schlumberger Foundation keep your data?
Schlumberger Foundation will not retain your personal information longer than is necessary to process your application, and to monitor your progress, or as long as required by law.
How do we secure your data?
Schlumberger Foundation has implemented technological and operational security processes to protect your personal data against loss, unauthorized access, destruction, misuse, modification, or improper disclosure. While no security measure can guarantee against compromise, Schlumberger Foundation regularly reviews and updates its security measures in an effort to provide appropriate security for all information held by Schlumberger Foundation.
Updating and removing your data?
Schlumberger Foundation wants to maintain only accurate information about applicants and grantees. If you wish to view, change or remove your personal data or object to the processing thereof, upon receipt of appropriate identification information, Schlumberger Foundation will provide you with access to the personal data that it maintains on your use of Schlumberger Foundation website or which you have supplied to Schlumberger Foundation.
