PhD Overview

As part of my doctoral research, I am developing a statistical model called a multilevel Bayesian network. This model helps to understand how different childhood diseases are related while accounting for variations between children from different clusters, such as regions or hospitals. I demonstrated the real-life application of the model using child morbidity data collected from primary health facilities in Ethiopia on children with severe acute malnutrition (SAM) who started ready-to-use therapeutic food (RUTF) treatment. This research helps identify how different health outcomes (e.g., diseases) interact in children with SAM, providing insights for better treatment strategies and improved wellbeing.

About Me

I am a PhD student in Statistics with four published papers and two forthcoming, during my PhD study. My research includes international collaboration and a visiting position at a leading institution. I received the L’Oréal-UNESCO for Women in Science Award (2022) and travel awards to present at IBS and BNMA conferences in 2025. https://www.fondationloreal.com/our-programs-women-science-national-and-regional-young-talents-programs/sub-saharan-africa-young https://orcid.org/my-orcid?orcid=0000-0001-5673-8037
