PhD Overview

My PhD research focuses on the epidemiological, clinical, and prognostic characterization of central nervous system infections at Maputo Central Hospital, Mozambique. This is a prospective cohort study running over two years (since September 2024), aiming to generate local evidence on the burden, outcomes, and challenges of managing chronic neuroinfectious diseases such as cryptococcal meningitis, neurocysticercosis, tuberculous meningitis, toxoplasmosis, and Pott’s disease. The project contributes to improving diagnosis, care, and policy development for neuroinfections in sub-Saharan Africa.
